Disney/Pixar almost rewrote the comic book movie game in 2004 with the release of the animated blockbuster The Incredibles. The film about a family of superheroes (Elastigirl, Mr. Incredible and their kids Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack) forced to live a quiet suburban life until being thrust back into the world of crime fighting won praise from critics, parents, and children alike. Many of the critics who reviewed the film made mention of the story ringing true to life rather than being cartoonish, and it may have indirectly inspired Marvel’s “Civil War” storyline in 2006. (Plus, it might be the only movie Samuel L. Jackson was in where he doesn’t call somebody a mother**ker.) Part of the reason we love the movie is because it provided a way for parents to teach their children life lessons without getting too preachy. Today, we celebrate the tenth anniversary of release of The Incredibles. Check out some of the life lessons the film taught us.
